For years, people has been excessively questioning over the charm of Southeast Asia. That might explain the rush of the backpackers’ army lately into the region all year round, be it rainy wet or burning hot season.
Xavier Allard is one of them. However, he might be better-trained and better-equipped than most of us to capture the amazing angles of the region known as “the doldrums of the world”. Oh well, what to do…

CATNAPS - Johnny
CATNAPS is definitely my great discover so far this year. The indie pop band based in Philadelphia, formerly known as “When I was 12”, has pulled out some real standard hipster stuff (see the paradox there?) in their 2-track album “BOYS DROOL”, and what better time to release it than on valentine’s day?
Compared to their 2011 release “Why don’t you whisper?”, this album is like 2 canons vs 12 pistols, in which I’m on the canons’ side. In my spontaneous opinion, Adrianne Gold - singer/guitarist has all it takes to be Wavves’ lady and Bleeding Knees Club’s wife.

On Being Pretty.
Good-looking people have it pretty easy in life.
They don’t have to work so hard.
They don’t have to be really funny, either.
What they need to do is to utter a few awkward words, throw some acting, and …. BAM!… others would’ve already fallen off their chair laughing. I mean, the first 8 seconds in an interview or meeting or random stumbling, even, a pretty person would undoubtedly score doubly higher than the other (ugly/fugly) ones.
Impression and Judgement suck on so many levels.
Okay I’m writing these lines is not to complain against pretty people. I’m just saying that knowing yourself is kinda crucial. We are not pretty, we are not charming, we are not brilliant and neither are we important. We are just the outsiders and hell yeah We will have to work hard.
As a close friend put it, my life is “a series of mistakes”.
